As far back as I can remember yarn and fiber have been a part of my life. My Mom was always doing something from knitting, crocheting, weaving, or spinning. I remember carding wool with my family and holding our hands up wide with yarn across it like a makeshift yarn swift and winding balls of freshly spun wool.
I tried to learn to crochet for YEARS! Being left handed brought some extra challenges, and despite the efforts of my mom and others, I wasn't able to get far with it until I was an adult.
As my skills developed, so did my taste in fiber for my projects. Sure, acrylic is great - washable, sturdy and widely available. At first it was perfect, affordable. Then I found myself drawn to natural fibers, and from there to uniquely designed and patterned yarns. Hand-painted, hand-dyed. Something special.
And that's when I started growing my interest in dyeing my own. I asked my mom (my personal encyclopedia of all things fiber) and she hadn't ever tried it. So I cast a wider net - and started soaking up information from wherever I could find it.
Finally I ordered some undyed yarn, dye and supplies and gave it a try. And that brings us here, where I am sharing my creations with the world. I hope you enjoy using them in your creations as I did making them!
